Gold-i Named One of the Most Caring Companies in Britain

Gold-i has been named one of the most caring companies in Britain in Real Business Magazine’s inaugural Philanthropic30 list.

The Philanthropic30 has been compiled by a panel of judges to celebrate companies whose CSR is a core part of their business and who encourage staff to be actively involved in supporting community initiatives.

Zen Terrelonge, Deputy Editor, Real Business who was one of the judges on the panel commented, “We have identified Britain’s most caring companies that truly have philanthropy laced throughout the business in one way or another. Our Philanthropic 30 2017 campaign has shown that you don’t need a huge number of employees or a large budget to give something back.”

Gold-i has had a focus on CSR since the business was founded in 2009. Following several years of charitable donations and local sponsorships, Gold-i created a more formalised CSR strategy in 2015, setting up its own charitable fund, The Gold-i Foundation for Innovation, which helps local charities to push boundaries and do something remarkable. A number of Gold-i staff are involved in selecting which charities to award Gold-i Foundation grants to and they also visit the grant recipients.

Building on its CSR focus, most recently the company launched a new initiative to enable all staff to have two extra days’ paid leave to spend time volunteering at a charity of their choice.

Tom Higgins, CEO, Gold-i adds, “From the outset, I’ve always believed that it’s important for a business to give back to its local community. In addition to supporting local suppliers, we have always encouraged employees to get involved in our CSR activities.  They really appreciate these opportunities as an important part of their work: life balance. Our approach to philanthropy is also highly valued by potential employees – people want to work for a company with strong ethics and which also values their local community.”
